Karavas is one of the nine Municipalities of Cyprus that are under Turkish occupation since 1974. Reference to the name Karavas is found for the first time during the years of Turkish occupation from the 16th to the 19th century, and according to tradition it was called that because it included a shipyard. The municipality was founded in 1884. Karavas has been working on European projects, mainly in the fields of citizenship (twinning). Karavas is currently twinned with 2 municipalities. We are interested in creating new partnerships in the field of twinning.
